The accent of natural beauty from living organisms can often get overlooked, but did you know…

Just remember to look after your plants and follow the guidelines for watering, feeding and position within the house.

Tips for adding plants to your space

1: ANALYZE THE SPACE:

Before rushing off to a garden centre or ordering online, analyse your space and understand the strongest and weakest points of a room. Observe what part of the space can be brightened up and where you can add more static pieces. Walk around the room and look at the space from different perspectives, this will help you choose the best spot to make your statement. Also keep in mind that houseplants vary in what they like and don’t like - if you’re unsure, speak with a specialist or an expert at your local garden centre to help choose the right plant for you and your space.

2: CHOOSE THE STYLE AND NARROW IT DOWN

Do your research - look on Pinterest to see what styles, height and care requirements of the prospective plants are. Save some pictures on your phone and don’t forget to think about the style of pot, container or basket you would like. There are also some great plant stands and plant tables out there that will elevate (literally) your planting! Other things to remember are: check the poisonous plants list if you have any pets and also check for allergens for you or your family.

3: DON’T CLUTTER THE SPACE

You already know this but just a reminder. Don’t clutter your space, keep an open plan giving the design enough space to breathe and flow.

4: HOW TO USE LARGE PLANTS

Large plants make a statement in a room. They are perfect for minimalistic interiors where you want to emphasise certain part of the design but don’t want to overcrowd the room. It is really important to carefully choose a pot that goes with your design, this will make a big difference and create the look and feel you desire.

5: HOW TO USE SMALL PLANTS

Small plants look beautiful in interiors. Due to their versatility and low maintenance they are perfect for basically any space in the house. The most common small plants are: cactus, air plants, Aloe, English ivy and Philodendron (word of caution: leaves are poisonous if they are eaten so take care if you have little ones or pets).
